He received his professional legal training from UKZN after completing his LLB at the same institution. He then went on to do his articles at the Legal Aid Board between 1998 to 2000 where he was focusing mainly on criminal and civil litigation matters. In 2001 he joined the Road Accident Fund for a period of 5 years where he was a member of the Legal Cost Department where his focus was primarily on litigation on legal costs.

He is currently doing a course on Arbitration through the International Society of Arbitrations and Mediations. He is a member of the panel that advises MEC of Agriculture and Environmental Affairs in legal matters that are related to environment and rural development. His duties are to advise the MEC in Environment and Agriculture matters.

Mr Mkhize completed LLB at the University of Kwazulu Natal. He is an admitted
